Direct download
Updates & privacy.

Extra Caffeine’s direct-download edition uses Sparkle to check for and download signed app updates. Automatic checks and installation are enabled by default. You can turn them off in the app’s Updates controls or choose “Check for Updates…” yourself.

Checks run when you open the app and periodically while it runs. Updates wait until an active keep-awake session ends before restarting the app. A failed check or unavailable network won’t stop your current version from working.

What connects to the internet?

The direct edition contacts our update server to retrieve its update feed, release information, and update downloads. It does not send system profiling information. As with ordinary website requests, the update host receives your IP address and standard request headers and may maintain server logs.

The app has no accounts, advertising, or analytics. It does not read your files, prompts, or AI conversations. Preferences stay on your Mac.

Mac App Store edition

The Mac App Store edition has no network-access entitlement and receives updates through Apple. The direct-download updater does not replace or update App Store installations.
